PRESS: Russia may introduce turnover-based fines for data leaks
MOSCOW, Feb 21 (PRIME) – Russia is drafting bills to introduce turnover fines on operators of personal data for the leaks, business daily Vedomosti reported on Monday, quoting Internet Research Institute Director Karen Kazaryan.
“A proposal to introduce turnover fines on operators of personal data for their leaks was discussed on February 17 … at the Federation Council (the parliament’s upper house) to improve the personal data circulation law,” the daily said.
“One of the participants of the meeting talked about work on amendments to the law to impose turnover fines on personal data operators for their leaks.”
